Sneak Peek: House of Milae
House of Milae, a home-style Korean restaurant owned by the Kang family, opens tomorrow, September 20, in Bethesda.
This is the first food foray for the Kangs, who also own Milae Cleaners on River Road. Milae is Thomas and "M&M" Kang's 21-year-old daughter.
Mom, or "M&M" as she is called, will be cooking up her longtime recipes, turning out a simple menu of Korean favorites. Those include bulgogi (grilled marinated beef), galbi (grilled marinated short ribs), bibimbap (rice, vegetables, beef and egg), plus kimbab (Korean style sushi).
The space, which formerly housed Plaza del Sol restaurant, has only undergone minor renovations--a soft green paint replaces the former yellow on one wall, the tables have been refinished and there's a new floor.
The prices are reasonable--lunch entrees are $8.25; dinner entrees are mostly all under $20.
