Nonprofit Village's Making a Difference Awards Breakfast

Nonprofit Village, Montgomery County’s first and only multitenant nonprofit center, held its seventh annual Making a Difference Awards Breakfast on May 6 at the Bethesda Marriott. Three organizations and one person were recognized for their outstanding nonprofit work in the community. Nonprofit Village simultaneously celebrated seven years working to strengthen the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations throughout the region.

This year's award recipients included two nonprofit organizations, Empowered Women International (Rockville/Arlington) and Rebuilding Together of Montgomery County (Gaithersburg), which were recognized for their work in the community. One for-profit organization, Lerch, Early, & Brewer (Bethesda), and one individual, Tom Raffa, founder and managing partner of Raffa P.C. (Washington, D.C.), were also honored for tireless efforts in support of local nonprofits.

Keynote speaker Jim Davis, president and CEO of Davis Construction; Honorary Chairman Larry Shulman, founding partner at Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker P.A. (Potomac); and emcee Michael Bobbitt, artistic director of Adventure Theatre-MTC (a 2014 Making a Difference award recipient) all ensured the event was a great success.

In continuing to support the nonprofit sector, the Nonprofit Village is hosting a Master Series on fundraising June 7 and 8.  For more details, go to https://thenonprofitvillage.givezooks.com/events/masters-series-2016.
