IMPACT Silver Spring (www.impactsilverspring.org) strengthens social networks in diverse neighborhoods that lead to people and communities that are healthier, more economically stable and more engaged in civic participation. Its Opportunity Circles support small cohorts of residents working together to form new businesses, improve their neighborhood conditions and achieve personal development goals. In addition, IMPACT convenes larger Network Night gatherings that enable circle participants to form connections to each other and a broader network of people and organizations.

What a donation buys:

• $250 pays for soccer jerseys for one team of 15 youths.

• $1,000 pays for books for two English Circles, where volunteer teachers support their neighbors in learning English.

• $10,000 pays for 25 Network Nights.

Volunteer opportunities:

• Weekly: Volunteer as a coach for elementary and middle school soccer or basketball teams.

• Weekly: Volunteer as an English teacher in Long Branch.

• Internships

• Student Service Learning hours
