The Peruvian chicken chain Crisp & Juicy is coming to Kensington and re-entering a local market it left after a fire struck its original Wheaton location in 2013.
The restaurant is building out a space at the Kensington Shopping Center on Connecticut Avenue—a strip mall retail center that includes tenants such as Five Guys, Chipotle and Hardware City.
Crisp and Juicy previously had a nearby location at Westfield Wheaton mall, but that closed after a fire broke out inside the restaurant in December 2013. The chain was founded in 1989 by husband-and-wife team Jorge and Carmen Perez, according to its website. The menu includes the eatery’s signature charbroiled rotisserie chicken, sausages and sides such as sweet potato fries, fried yucca and rice primavera.
The new Kensington restaurant will be the chain’s ninth—its other locations are in Rockville, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
