Best Local Bank

A struggling national economy hasn’t stopped EagleBank from continuing the steady growth and financial success it has enjoyed since first opening its doors in Bethesda in 1998, says Tom Murphy, president of community banking. That’s because EagleBank, with 18 offices in the Washington metropolitan area, built its capital and a clean loan portfolio before the recession struck in 2007, allowing it to thrive during a crisis that threatened other local banks, Murphy says.

Also chosen by Bethesda Magazine readers in this category in 2011, EagleBank prides itself on creating intimate relationships with its customers. With executive management based in Bethesda, the bank can make financial decisions locally, quickly and creatively, Murphy says.
