Wydler Brothers

Hans and Steve Wydler like to say they don’t take themselves too seriously, but they couldn’t be more serious about their work. The Wall Street Journal testifies to that: It ranked them among the top-performing real estate teams in the nation in 2010 based on sales volume.

The Ivy League-educated brothers, who grew up sharing a bedroom in a rent-controlled Manhattan apartment, have been in business together less than a decade but reached 68th in the newspaper’s ranking.

“They really think hard about long-term relationships,” rather than trying to squeeze the biggest commission out of a deal, says David Wellish, who likes the brothers’ “top-down, analytical approach.” Wellish’s American University Park home in Washington, D.C., languished on the market for months with another agent before the Wydlers quickly sold it in 2006.

“Our folks have financial advisers and real estate attorneys,” Hans Wydler says. “We want to be their real estate advisers.”
