Best Place to Hold a Wedding Reception

Tie: Woodend Sanctuary and The Music Center at Strathmore

Something old or something new? Readers were split on which was the way to go in celebrating one’s nuptials, with Woodend Sanctuary and The Music Center at Strathmore tying for the top spot to hold a wedding reception.  

In Chevy Chase, Woodend offers a sense of history in a mansion dating to the 1920s and set amid 40 bucolic acres. The mansion can accommodate up to 150 guests on a tented terrace.  Rental fees, which range seasonally from $2,600 to $9,400, help fund environmental and educational activities at the Audubon Naturalist Society, the facility’s owner.

In North Bethesda, The Music Center at Strathmore offers a contemporary feel in a nontraditional space that’s not quite 6 years old. It’s able to accommodate up to 325 guests indoors, with a tent on the adjoining outdoor terrace holding another 350. Rentals begin at $5,500.
