North Potomac’s Sherri Greenbaum gets emotional talking about her eighth-grade son’s experience at McLean, a K-12 private school for students with learning issues.

“It’s an extremely nurturing place,” she says. “They actually try to meet [students’] needs. For my son, it was a really big thing.”

That’s because the school believes in students’ “unique brilliance” and accommodates different learning styles. “Part of our job is to find another key to unlock each child,” says Head of School Darlene Pierro. Tuition at the school costs $25,775 to $31,150.
