Bethesda attorney Steven Katz met Dr. Jack Flyer in the emergency room after a heart attack in 2004. “I lucked into him,” Katz says. “I’ve been thrilled.”

Flyer, 47, says cardiology interests him because of its potential. “You meet people when they’re extremely sick and in precarious situations—and you get them to a better place,” he says.
