Sen.-elect Chris Van Hollen announced Monday he will be serving on four committees—Appropriations; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry; and Budget—when the U.S. Senate reconvenes in January.

Van Hollen’s Appropriations Committee assignment, which had been held by outgoing Sen. Barbara Mikulski, had been announced about a month ago, when Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer of New York picked Van Hollen to be chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee for the 2017-2018 campaign cycle.

On the Appropriations Committee, Van Hollen will be able to fight for funding the state’s federal facilities and military installations, according to a press release from Van Hollen’s office. On the Banking Committee, he said he would continue his work on Wall Street accountability. On the Agriculture Committee, he plans to work on the concerns of farmers on the Eastern Shore and in Western Maryland.

And on the Budget Committee, he said he would work on funding education and job training programs to supporting small business owners and job creators.
