Solaire Bethesda has opened, providing 139 apartments at Woodmont and Wisconsin avenues.

Washington Property Co. delivered the $60 million, 12-story building at 7100 Wisconsin Ave., with studio, and one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The building broke ground in June 2014.

On Friday, workmen were finishing the fifth-floor terrace, which has a grilling station, as well as a fitness center and club room. When completed, the club room will include a kitchen, linear fireplace and pool table, said Larissa Calhoun, assistant property manager for Kettler Brothers, which is managing the apartments.

Preleasing of the apartments began June 1, and tenants began moving in on Oct. 7, Calhoun said. About 25 of the units have been rented, including all but one of the 21 moderately priced dwelling units, Calhoun said.

Ground-level retail will include a True Food Kitchen, the first Maryland location for the vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free eatery, which is set to open in March or April, she said.

The building sits atop a two-level parking garage with spaces assigned to residents. Residents enter the first floor to find a cyber café, coffee bar, mailboxes and lounge, as well as a 24-hour concierge service. Television screens provide updates on status of Metro trains.

A security system requires a key fob to open keyless doors and operate the elevators.

The 727-square-foot one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments offer stainless appliances and wide-plank floors made of walnut or washed oak.

Some of the 1,196-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bathroom units come with wine coolers. Some units also have a pocket door to add privacy as guests move between the extra bedroom and extra bath.

The building also has eight 606-square-foot studios, where monthly rents start at $2,060. One-bedroom units start at $2,375, and two-bedroom units start at $3,550. Solaire Bethesda also has two three-bedroom units, with more than 1,400 square feet of living space. Rents for those units start at $6,360 per month.

Solaire Bethesda is the company’s third Solaire-branded apartment community, after the 2012 opening of Solaire Silver Spring and the early 2014 opening of Solaire Wheaton. The properties total nearly 700 units and all have close proximity to Metrorail’s Red Line.
