New Year’s Eve Events Around Bethesda

Restaurants and venues are hosting parties to bring in 2017

Bethesda Blues and Jazz — 7719 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda

The theater is planning a performance by Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra to ring in the year. The event features a four-course dinner, special hats, noise makers, horns, pop-out streamers and a champagne toast at midnight. Theater tickets are $75. Tickets for the meal are $150 per person. The party starts at 9 p.m., but doors open at 7 p.m.

Barrel and Crow — 4867 Cordell Ave., Bethesda

Dinner on New Year’s Eve will be available with and without wine pairings. The restaurant will be open from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Tapp’d — 4915 St. Elmo Ave., Bethesda

For New Year’s Eve, Tapp’d evokes the time of speakeasies, secret knocks and backroom bars. Drink prices increase as the night goes on: $3 from 7 to 8 p.m., $4 from 8 to 9 p.m. and $5 from 9 p.m. to close. There is no cover for the event.

Caddies — 4922 Cordell Ave., Bethesda

A DJ will play from 9 p.m. to close. Fireball girls will offer giveaways and free samples from 10 to 11 p.m. Half-price appetizers and half-price pizza will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. The venue is offering a complimentary "cham-bull" midnight toast. There is no cover for the event. Drink prices from 4 p.m. to close are $10 Bud Light, Miller Lite and Yuengling pitchers, $15 Blue Moon pitchers, $5 rail drinks and $4 Fireballs. Brunch is served on New Year’s Day.

Flanagan’s Harp and Fiddle — 4844 Cordell Ave., Bethesda

The venue will be open from 9:30 p.m. to 11:55 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. The band will be the DCeivers. The venue is offering a five-course meal for $50. There is a $5 cover for nontable service.

Fillmore Silver Spring — 8656 Colesville Road, Silver Spring

Colors, an event company based in Los Angeles, will host an “R&B Only” event, a blend of R&B dance music from the ’90s until now. The doors will open 7 p.m. and tickets are $21.99. For VIP options, call 301-960-1912.

Glen Echo Park — 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo

The Tom Cunningham Orchestra hosts a swing dance, from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., in the Spanish Ballroom. All ages are welcome, and the admission is $25. Beginning swing lessons start at 8 p.m., followed by dancing from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Redwood Restaurant and Bar — 7121 Bethesda Lane, Bethesda

Redwood hosts a James Bond cocktail party and dinner combination. Diners can enjoy spy-themed cocktails, take advantage of James Bond props and photography opportunities, and to play at live casino tables (available for entertainment purposes only). The restaurant offers a four-course meal, and after the meal, guests can continue enjoying cocktails and dancing. A champagne toast will be served at midnight. Tickets cost $89.
