Father and son prepare holiday meals for USS Chicago crew

Andrew Trevelino is a culinary specialist on the nuclear sub and his father, David, is the executive chef at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, but during the holidays David and Andrew team up to provide gourmet meals for the crew aboard the sub--no matter where it is--with some financial help from the country club’s members. Hogan proposes using I-95 to test driverless cars

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced Wednesday the state has applied for a U.S. Department of Transportation program to allow testing of driverless cars on I-95, the Intercounty Connector and other roadways such as U.S. 1. The state’s application suggests the state could use the driverless technology to move freight from the Baltimore port and for other purposes. [Baltimore Sun]

Cabin John Salvation Army receives golden surprise

Capt. Karl Dahlin found a solid gold Canadian collector’s coin inside a donation bucket outside the Giant Food store in Cabin John Saturday that could be worth as much as $1,200. It is unknown who donated the coin. [NBC4]

Van Hollen appoints Karen Robb, Yvette Lewis to lead Senate staff

Maryland Sen.-elect Chris Van Hollen announced Wednesday he has selected his longtime chief of staff, Karen Robb, to continue to serve in that role as he assumes his new office and he also appointed Yvette Lewis, former chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party, to serve as his director of external relations and community outreach. Van Hollen aso added Bill Dauster, most recently a senior staffer for Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, to serve as his director of policy.
