A new location of a California Burger chain will open next week in Gaithersburg.

The Habit Burger Grill will open Jan. 10 at 464 N. Frederick Ave. in the Gaithersburg Square Shopping Center, according to the company. The restaurant also opened a location in 2016 at Wintergreen Plaza on Rockville Pike.

The restaurant’s burgers are highly regarded, with Consumer Reports ranking them as the best burger over In-N-Out, Five Guys and other chains. The chain has grown from its first Santa Barbara restaurant in 1969 to nearly 200 locations in California and across the country.

The Habit Burger Grill serves “charburgers,” which are cooked over an open flame, as well as salads, grilled sandwiches and sides. Each meal comes with a choice of peppers, lemons, limes and sauces.

Leading up to the opening, the restaurant will offer free food on three promotional days. The first 200 customers at 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. will get a free burger, fries and a drink on Saturday or a free chargrilled meal on Sunday, according to a press release. On Tuesday, the first 200 people at 11:30 a.m. will get a free chargrilled meal.

The Habit Burger Grill will be in a 2,700-square-foot space that seats 72. It will be open Monday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
