Spring Mill Bread Co. To Close Bethesda Location

“Flagship” store will be shuttered in February



After 25 years, Spring Mill Bread Co. will close its Bethesda store in mid-February.

In an email to employees, owner Katherine Rurka wrote, “Our lease is up and with that we will close our doors …,” The Bethesda location, which is described on the company’s website as “our flagship store,” is at 4961 Elm St.

Six other stores, including ones in Gaithersburg, Rockville and Takoma Park, will remain open.

“It is with a heavy heart to announce that Spring Mill Bethesda will be closing its doors after 25 wonderful years in our Bethesda neighborhood …,” Rurka wrote in the email. “We will cherish those memories made over the 25 years and carry them forward in our other locations.”

She wrote that the Bethesda employees will be offered positions at the other stores.
