Bethesda Row Restaurant Week begins

The annual Bethesda Row Restaurant Week is back.

Beginning Monday, the event includes special menus from eight Bethesda restaurants, including $18 three-course lunches and $34 three-course dinners.

For the first time, Restaurant Week will include a fast-casual option, with $10 salad and drink from Modern Market. The event ends April 29.

Denizens expands to Prince George’s County

Denizens Brewing Co. will open its second location in Riverdale Park in Prince George’s County at the end of the year, according to the company.

The new brewery will be similar to the downtown Silver Spring original, offering lunch, happy hour, dinner and brunch. It will also have weekly tours of the brewery and sell packaged products to go.

Denizens will fill a 12,000-square-foot space at Riverdale Park Station near the Whole Foods.

TacoArepa and Frida Beer Garden host fundraiser for Venezuelan humanitarian efforts

From 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, the newly opened TacoArepa and Frida Beer Garden will hold a charity event in which all proceeds will go toward Acción Humanitaria por Venezuela. The Fairmont Avenue restaurant will host speakers including Carla Bustillos, co-founder of Vision Democrática; Marisela Castillo, co-founder of Acción Humanitaria por Venezuela and Francisco Marquez, the executive director of Vision Democrática.

Silver Diner makes first big menu change in a decade

Silver Diner has changed 25 percent of its menu, with a focus on “farm-to-table” items and fewer dishes to increase quality, Executive Chef Ype Von Hengst said in a statement. The local diner chain has been working on a reinvention in recent years. In addition to opening the upscale Silver in Bethesda—and now in D.C.—the chain’s owners have brought more vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and healthier items to the Silver Diner menu.

New menu items include Asian rice and grain bowls, meatless miso burgers, burrata avocado toast and acai yogurt bowls.
