Two Killed in Potomac Crash

Audi S4 left roadway and struck a tree; driver and passenger killed

Two Potomac residents were killed in a crash Wednesday night after the vehicle they were in left the roadway and struck a tree in Potomac.

Kent Matthew Brooks, 30, who police identified as the driver, and Kathleen Michelle French, 33, a passenger, died from injuries they sustained in the crash.

Police believe Brooks was driving a 2011 Audi S4 east on Democracy Boulevard when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The crash happened near the intersection of Democracy Boulevard and Gainsborough Road at around 11:39 p.m., police said.

Brooks had addresses in the 7800 block of Heatherton Lane in Potomac and the 1400 block of Bradley Boulevard in Bethesda. French lived in the 7500 block of Heatherton Lane in Potomac, according to police.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and are asking anyone who might have additional information to call them at 240-773-6620.
