Lloyd Lee Welch Jr. pleads guilty in Lyon sisters case

A suspect in a killing that had been considered unsolved for more than 40 years pleaded guilty to murder today. Lloyd Lee Wlech Jr., 60, appeared in court in Bedford County, Virginia, for the disappearance of Sheila, 12, and Katherine Lyon, 10, who were last seen at a Wheaton mall in 1975. Prosecutors believe he burned the body of at least one of the girls on his family's property in Virginia. He pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder. [WTOP]

Family offers $25,000 for information about missing Olney woman

Laura Elizabeth Wallen, a 31-year-old teacher who lives in Olney, last had contact with her family on Sept. 4 and hasn’t shown up to her job at Wilde Lake High School in Howard County since. Her parents and boyfriend appeared with Montgomery County police at a press conference yesterday and offered $25,000 for information that leads to her return. Police said they do not currently have reason to believe foul play was involved. Wallen is four months pregnant. [Washington Post]

DLC puts $6,800 tequila on sale

The Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control is offering a bottle of Patron tequila for $6,799. The rare bottle comes in a Lalique crystal decanter and is one of only 500 bottles in the world. [WTOP]

Parents known for YouTube pranks receive five years probation

The Maryland couple behind the controversial YouTube channel DaddyOFive, which featured videos of elaborate pranks they played on their children, received five years of supervised probation for pleas related to child neglect. Prosecutors claimed the children were traumatized by the pranks. [CBS Baltimore]
