Sports bar chain and poke restaurant to open in Rio

Yard House, a sports-car chain boasting an extensive craft-beer selection, and D.C. poke restaurant Poki District will both open new locations in the Rio Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, local retail blog Store Reporter reports.

It will be the first Maryland location for the popular bar and restaurant, which has about 70 locations across the country, according to its website. Yard House serves more than 100 beers on tap, in addition to a wide-ranging menu of American fare. An opening date is not set yet.

The Gaithersburg Yard House will open in the former space of the Macaroni Grill, according to the Store Reporter. The Macaroni Grill was next to the former Joe’s Crab Shack, which closed in September. Both Macaroni Grill and Joe’s Crab Shack are owned by the financially struggling Ignite Restaurant Group, which filed for bankruptcy this summer.

Poki District plans to open next spring next to the AMC movie theater, according to the Store Reporter. It sells Hawaiian-style sushi bowls, similar to the Honeyfish Poke that recently opened in Rockville. Poki District currently has one location near Chinatown, but just announced plans to open another in College Park, according to The Diamondback.

Food Council debuts “Made in MoCo” logo

A new logo lets consumers know which food and drinks were made in Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Food Council released the “MoCo Made” logo in the hopes that it will soon appear on items at markets, farm stands and other sellers.

The organization held a launch event on Tuesday at Dawson’s Market in Rockville for the logo and the second annual Montgomery County Food and Beverage Guide, according to a press release. The brochure contains information on more than 60 local food companies and farms.

The event featured more than 20 local farms and food companies, including the Red Bandana Bakery, True Respite Brewing Company and Moorenko’s Ice Cream.

Get take-out for Thanksgiving at Lincoln’s Bar-B-Que

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and Lincoln’s Bar-B-Que in Silver Spring is offering a creative solution for families who don’t feel like cooking. For $95, the restaurant is selling a take-home “Thanksgiving Feast” for six people. It includes a whole smoked turkey and a choice of three sides ranging from mashed potatoes and gravy to sweet potatoes and cornbread.

Don’t procrastinate too much though—Lincoln’s stops taking orders at the end of the day Tuesday.
