A magazine focusing on wine recognized several Montgomery County restaurants for their selection of drinks.

In its July issue released Tuesday, Wine Spectator named Bethesda, North Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Gaithersburg restaurants as winners of its annual Award of Excellence.

The Bethesda winners were Morton’s, Jaleo and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, while The Capital Grille in Chevy Chase and Del Frisco’s Grille and Season’s 52 in North Bethesda were also recognized. Ruth’s Chris Steak House’s location in Gaithersburg also won the award.

Restaurants around the country apply for the excellence award and two others by submitting their wine lists to the magazine along with an application fee of $325 to $375, according to Wine Spectator. The magazine gives the excellence award to restaurants with wine lists that typically feature at least 90 selections meant to match menus.
