SUV Strikes, Seriously Injures Pedestrian on Georgia Avenue

Crash occurred near Leisure World Monday afternoon

An SUV struck and seriously injured a pedestrian on Georgia Avenue near Leisure World Monday afternoon, according to police.

Zinash Gedamu, 68, of the 15000 block of Georgia Avenue, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by the SUV, according to Montgomery County police.

A 2015 Honda Crosstour was driving south on Georgia Avenue toward International Drive at 3:51 p.m., police wrote in a press release. Gedamu was crossing the street at International Drive toward the Leisure World Entrance when the vehicle hit him.

Police identified the driver as Diriba Worku Yadessa, 50, of Winter Morning Way in Olney.
