Updated 2 p.m. Sept. 26: Police officers responding to a call found a body in a car in a North Bethesda area parking lot Monday, Montgomery County police said.

A passerby called police at about 4 p.m. reporting a person who appeared unresponsive in the White Flint Plaza Parking Lot, police spokesman Rick Goodale said.

When police arrived at the 5100 block of Nicholson Lane, officers determined the person “already was deceased and had been for a while,” he said.

The body was in the backseat of the car in an advanced state of decomposition, Goodale said.

Fox 5 first reported the news.

Police are conducting a death investigation and said further information—including the person’s age and gender—was not yet available Tuesday afternoon.

This story was updated to correct the location of the parking lot. It has a Kensington postal address, but it is in North Bethesda.
