Police Blotter: Series of Thefts from Vehicles in Bethesda; Burglar Steals Mannequin

Crimes reported to Montgomery County and Rockville police from Nov. 29-Dec. 5




Thefts from vehicles

• Property was taken from multiple vehicles on Woodmont Avenue, Cheltenham Drive, Wisconsin Avenue and Chestnut Street and at Bethesda Metro Center over the week. Force was reported in multiple thefts.

• Four thefts from vehicles occurred in the 6400 block of Goldsboro Road between 5:45 and 6 p.m. Nov. 30. Cash and property were taken. Force was reported in one theft.

• Cash and property were also taken from three vehicles between 2:40 and 5 p.m. Nov. 30. Two occurred in the 5600 block of Beech Avenue and one in the 9500 block of Old Georgetown Road. Police said there was forced entry into two of the cars.

Chevy Chase

Attempted home burglary

• A burglary was attempted at a house in the 7300 block of Connecticut Avenue between 8 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Nov. 30.


Thefts from vehicles

• Property was taken from two vehicles in the 12100 block of Devilwood Drive and the 13500 block of Hayworth Drive between 4 p.m. Dec. 2 and 1 p.m. Dec. 3. No force was reported.

North Bethesda

Attempted armed robbery

• A man displayed a weapon and assaulted another man near Rockville Pike and Nicholson Lane at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 29. He tried to take cash and property.

Attempted commercial burglary

• An attempted burglary occurred at 220 Volt Appliances & Electronics at 5465 Randolph Road at about 9:30 p.m. Dec. 4.


Teen boys accused of burglary

• Rockville police submitted a request that five boys ages 14 and 15 be charged with second- and fourth-degree burglary, theft and trespassing for a May incident in the 600 block of North Stonestreet Avenue. Rockville police do not charge juveniles for offenses. Juvenile charges are handled by Montgomery County police.

Mannequin stolen

• A burglar removed a mannequin and clothing from a business on the first block of Maryland Avenue between noon and 6 p.m. Dec. 3.

Vehicle stolen

• A person broke a rear garage door at a business in the 1100 block of Rockville Pike overnight on Dec. 3. Once inside, the person stole an iPad, a cellphone, two vehicle keys, two jackets, a license plate, a safe and a vehicle.

Silver Spring

Strong-arm robbery

• Two men assaulted a man and stole his cash and property in the parking garage on Cameron Street and Second Avenue at about 3:50 p.m. Dec. 3. One of the robbers appeared to be in his early 20s.

Thefts from vehicles

• Cash and property were taken from multiple vehicles on Brunswick Avenue, Normandy Drive, Conover Drive, Dartmouth Avenue, Gardiner Avenue, Flower Avenue and Ellsworth Drive over the week. Force was reported in two thefts.
