Police Blotter: Man Steals Car Left Running in Silver Spring; Multiple Home Break-ins Around County

Crimes reported to Montgomery County and Rockville police from Oct. 4 to 10




House burglary

A man entered a house on the 6500 block of Clearwood Road at about 6:45 p.m. Oct. 4. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was taken.

Thefts from vehicles

Cash and property were taken from cars parked on Marbury Road, Radnor Road and Bradley Boulevard overnight on Oct. 5. No forced entry was reported.


House burglary

Two men broke into a house in the 10100 block of Thornwood Road early on the morning of Oct. 8. They stole property.

North Potomac

Thefts from vehicles

Cash and property were taken from multiple cars on Prairie Landing Court, Treble Court and Cherry Blossom Lane between Oct. 4 and 9. A 17-year-old from Gaithersburg was arrested in connection with the Cherry Blossom Lane theft.


House burglary

A house in the 11400 block of Ridge Mist Terrace was broken into between Oct. 1 and 5. Property was taken.


Thefts from vehicles

Four thefts from cars occurred in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Parrish drive overnight on Oct. 4. Cash and property were taken. No forced entry was reported.

Cash, a driver’s license and credit cards were stolen from a car in the 1800 block of Chapman Avenue overnight on Oct. 5.

A catalytic converter was removed from a car parked in the 200 block of Congressional Lane between Oct. 7 and 14.

Garage burglary

A person removed a screen and opened a window to enter the garage of a vacant house in the 1100 block of Gaither Road between Oct. 6 and 8. Nothing was taken from the garage, and the person didn’t go into the house beyond the garage.

Strong-arm robbery

Five people—two men and three women—approached a person on the 16000 block of Shady Grove Road at about 5 a.m. Oct. 7 and forcibly stole cash and a cellphone.

Sunoco burglary

The Sunoco at 6060 Montrose Road was broken into at 5:25 a.m. Oct. 8. Merchandise was taken.

Silver Spring

Thefts from vehicles

Cash, property and vehicle parts were stolen from cars on Manchester Road, Courts Way, Gardiner Avenue, Cloverfield Place and Columbia Boulevard between Oct. 3 and 8. Force was reported in multiple incidents.

House burglary

A house in the 700 block of Thayer Avenue was broken into between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Oct. 4. Nothing was taken.

Car stolen

A car that had been left unlocked and running with the keys in the ignition was stolen from the 8000 block of 13th Street at about 11:20 p.m. Oct. 4. The car was recovered a short distance away. Police arrested a 20-year-old man from Washington, D.C.

Attempted hot dog stand robbery

A man displayed a weapon and attempted to take cash from the Silver Hot Dog stand on the corner of Wayne and Ramsey avenues at about 11:40 a.m. Oct. 6. Police arrested a 32-year-old man with an unconfirmed address.
