Police Blotter: Man Dressed as Vampire Punches Man in Rockville; Silver Spring Resident Charged with Assault at Mix Bar & Grille

Crimes reported to Montgomery County and Rockville police from Oct. 25-31




Strong-arm robbery at News Express

A man assaulted two adult employees and stole property from the News Express convenience store at 4853 Cordell Ave. at 7:19 p.m. Oct. 30.

Thefts from vehicles

Cash and property were taken from multiple cars on Glenwood Road, Yankee Harbor Drive, Rosewood Drive, Roosevelt Street, Marion Lane and Hazelwood Drive between Oct. 26 and 30. There were no signs of forced entry.


Burglary at David Sommers Psychology

Property was taken from the David Sommers Psychology medical office at 3750 University Blvd. West between 3 p.m. Oct 26 and 4 p.m. Oct. 27. There were no signs of forced entry.

Thefts from vehicles

Cash and property were taken from multiple cars on Woodfield Road, Dunnel Lane, Franklin Street, Dresden Street, Culvert Street, Brookfield Drive and Wildwood Road between Oct. 23 and 28. No force was reported.

North Bethesda

Armed robbery

Two men, one displaying a weapon, assaulted an adult man and took his cash and property in the 5100 block of Randolph Road early morning Oct. 28.


Burglaries at Fallsgrove Shopping Center

Two burglaries and an attempted burglary occurred in the early morning of Oct. 26 at the Fallsgrove Shopping Center. The Bubbles salon at 14929 Shady Grove Road was broken into, though nothing was taken. Cash was taken from the Hair Cuttery at 14933H Shady Grove Road after it was broken into. An attempted burglary occurred at Mirage Nails & Waxing at 14933C.

Laptop theft

A man arranged to meet a person to sell his laptop on Maryland Avenue between 8:30 and 10 p.m. Oct. 28. After showing the purported buyer how to use the laptop, the person suddenly grabbed the device and ran away without paying.

House burglary

A pair of earrings, clothes and cosmetics were stolen from a house in the 300 block of Thompson Dairy Way between Oct. 17 and 30.

Car stolen

A car was stolen from Upper Rock Circle between Oct. 27 and 30.

Assault in woods

A man was walking in the woods near the 5000 block of Crawford Drive when two unknown people approached him from behind and assaulted him at 9:33 p.m. Oct. 27.

Thefts from vehicles

Cash was taken from two cars on Henry Road between Oct. 27 and 29. Force was reported in one incident.

Property and vehicle parts were taken from four more cars between Oct. 26 and 30. One occurred in the 15800 block of Frederick Road and three occurred in the 7600 block of Standish Place. No force was reported.


A man was walking to his car when he asked a couple he didn’t know for a cigarette on Preserve Parkway just before 3 a.m. Oct. 29. The couple were dressed as a vampire and a zombie. The man dressed as the vampire punched the approaching man and the couple fled the area.

Silver Spring

Aggravated assault at Mix Bar & Grill

A 31-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested after an aggravated assault at the Mix Bar & Grill at about 9:45 p.m. Oct. 27. The man allegedly assaulted another man at the 8241 Georgia Ave. restaurant and bar.

Apartment burglary

Property was taken from an apartment in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue between 3 and 7 p.m. Oct. 31. There were no signs of forced entry.
