Man Taken To Hospital After Car and Bicycle Crash in Potomac Area

Crash happened Monday afternoon near Travilah Elementary School

Update 5:45 p.m. Tuesday: A bicyclist was taken to the hospital after a car struck him in the Travilah area Monday afternoon, officials said.

The adult man was considered a priority 2 trauma patient, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said. Rescue crews consider priority 1 to be the most serious injuries and priority 3 to be the least serious.

The crash occurred at the 13800 block of Dufief Mill Road near Travilah Elementary School at about 2:30 p.m., Piringer said.

Montgomery County police are investigating the crash, said Officer Rick Goodale, a spokesman for the department.

Officials initially did not confirm if the injured man was the bicyclist or who was at fault, but Goodale said Tuesday that the bicyclist was injured and the car's driver was considered at fault.
