Police believe pedestrian was injured in prior incident

A man who was lying on the road was struck and killed by a car in Silver Spring early Saturday morning, according to police.

Montgomery County police believe Inmar Alejan Germendez-Escobar, 30, suffered an injury before he was hit by a 2009 Toyota Corolla, though the cause or nature of that injury was not known, according to a press release. He was taken to a local trauma center and pronounced dead.

Police said they could not confirm his address.

The incident occurred on Piney Branch Road near Garland Avenue at about 1 a.m., police said. The driver of the Toyota—Noellie Espinal Rosario, 40, of Overlook Drive in Silver Spring—and a passenger were not injured.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to call 240-773-6200.
