Renderings For ArcLight Cinemas, Coming This Fall

[gallery ids="17530,17531,17532,17533,17534,17535,17536"] The first East Coast location of the luxury ArcLight Cinemas chain is the centerpiece of Westfield Montgomery's large scale renovation. Westfield has released some early renderings of what the inside of the movie theater, being built on top of a parking garage, will look like. The 16-screen, 2,400-seat theater is set to open this fall next to the redone Dining Terrace, which will open this summer: ArcLight stands out from the traditional megaplex by offering a variety of features including digital projection with black box auditoriums, its characteristic extra-wide stadium seating with double armrests, no late seating policy and "cinema-focused" gift shop. As an added amenity for 21 and older patrons, each theatre is designed with a designated auditorium and adjacent lounge where movie-goers may enjoy wine, beer and cocktails during select screenings. The ArcLight standard for movie-going is further defined by ushers who provide an introduction, picture quality and sound check for each movie, and ensure a quality experience where no disruptive talk, cell phone usage, or texting occurs in the theatre. A $15 yearly membership program also offers purchasing rewards and other member-only benefits including advance notice of films and special events. It's another of the upscale theaters (think pre-reserved seating and gourmet food) coming to the area. Landmark Theatres completed its renovation last May on Bethesda Row. ArcLight promises more of a mix of Hollywood blockbusters and art house fare than Landmark is known for. Then, there's the iPic Theaters location coming to Pike & Rose in North Bethesda. That eight-screen, roughly 720-seat theater will open with the first phase of the project later this year and uses many of the same "luxury movie theater" concepts. Images via Westfield Montgomery
