Josh Davis, 15, of Chevy Chase was found dead around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday when police and MCFRS units responded to the report of an injured person in the woods near the 9200 block of Jones Mill Road, according to a police press release. Capt. Jim Daly, a police spokesperson, said police suspect the teenager was riding his bike off the main trail when he was hit by a falling tree. Police confirmed Davis was the same individual reported missing nearby on Monday night. His parents told police he hadn't returned from a bike ride. Daly said investigators found a bike and downed tree near the body, leading them to believe the downed tree struck the teenager on Monday evening during the storms. Investigators from the county's Family Crimes Division searched for Davis on Monday night after he was reported missing as is protocol, Daly said. Investigators searched for him in downtown Bethesda and in Rock Creek Park, where he was known to go biking. Davis was a sophomore at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, according to principal Karen Lockard. Friends have started a R.I.P. Josh Davis Facebook page.
