Suspects Steal Credit Cards, Use Fake ID To Buy Puppy

Montgomery County Police say a pair of suspects stole credit cards from a Bethesda church-goer before using the victim's identity to purchase a puppy in Rockville. Police on Friday released two videos of the suspects and a picture of the puppy, a three-month-old Yorkshire Terrier. The incident happened on Aug. 11 between about 12 p.m. and 1:10 p.m, police said. The victim, a 60-year-old woman, was at church services at St. Jane Frances de Chantel Catholic Church (9601 Old Georgetown Rd.) when police said an unknown suspect or suspects broke into her car and stole her purse. Inside the purse were credit cards, which a pair of suspects in the videos took from Bethesda to the Just Puppies store in the Twinbrook Shopping Center. The female suspect used a fake license that had her photo but the information of the victim in Bethesda to buy the dog, which is pictured. Police said this happened less than two hours after the purse was stolen. Both suspects then went to the Nordstrom at Westfield Montgomery Mall to buy clothing. One of the videos shows the male suspect holding the puppy while buying the clothes. Police said the suspects charged a total of about $4,100 to the victim's credit card. Anyone with information about this case or suspects involved in this case is asked to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
