Metro Awards Escalator Construction Project — Metro yesterday awarded a $151 million contract to KONE Corp. to replace 128 escalators in its system, including four at the Bethesda Metro station, which at 212 feet are the second longest in the Western Hemisphere. That project is slated to start early next year. The contract includes two escalator modernizations at the Medical Center station. [Washington Post] Record $7.9 Million Chevy Chase Condo Sale — The nearly $8 million sale of the penthouse unit at the Parc Somerset Condos off Wisconsin Avenue is thought to be a record for residential condos in the Washington region.
